Sunday is swing day at Dance Station. Mike Garcia and Elli Hindmarch (pictured) teach a series of classes that will take you from a beginner to a confident dancer. You never need a partner, as students rotate during classes (unless they prefer not to).
Mike and Elli have been performing, teaching and dancing since the late ‘90s and enjoy bringing their passion for swing dancing to Santa Fe. Although drop-ins are allowed with prior notice, the instructors prefer that students register in advance. Sign up here!
This month’s Sunday classes will take place on Aug. 6, 13, and 20. Admission to each class is $20 or a sliding scale. The lineup is as follows:
Basic Swing Dance
5:30 – 6:15 p.m.
Learn the basic six-count steps for both slower and faster swing music, along with lead and follow techniques that enhance your enjoyment of partner dancing.
Intermediate Swing: 6- & 8-count patterns with triple steps
6:30 – 7:15 p.m.
Intermediate Lindy Hop Workshop:
8-count timing using a track, and intermediate patterns
7:30 – 8:15 p.m.
