Santa Fe’s famous Pancakes on the Plaza returns on July 4 after a two-year absence — and the Dance Station Kid‘s Class will be among the performers on the Plaza gazebo.

Led by Dance Station instructor Mary Miller, the Kid‘s Social Dance Class will take the gazebo stage at 1:30 p.m. to dance a waltz, tango, and jitterbug medley.

The students — Abby, Finn, Gabriel, Malcolm, and Rhea — range in age from 6 to 12.

“The kids have been attending extra practices, reviewing the routines via video, and developing confidence in their dancing,” Mary said, noting that some of the students have attended ballroom competitions while others have only attended a handful of classes. ”We emphasis teamwork and patience with ourselves and our partners in class, so we know those qualities and skills will shine through the kids on and off the dance floor.”

Pancakes on the Plaza is the annual fundraiser of the Rotary Club of Santa Fe. This is the event‘s 45th anniversary. Proceeds from this year’s events will go to the Santa Fe Children‘s Museum and to YouthWorks.

Tickets, which entitle holders to a yummy pancake breakfast plate, cost $10 on the day of the event, or $30 for 4. (They’re a little less expensive when purchased in advance.)

Pancakes on the Plaza is just one of the upcoming events where the Kid’s Class will perform. They will be back on the Plaza on Saturday, Aug 13 as part of the Mono Mundo World Dance Festival. They will perform between 1 and 3:30 p.m.
