If you’re new to salsa, or just want a refresher before hitting the dance floor, Dance Station is starting a two-week salsa workshop for beginners on Thursday, Sept. 2. The second workshop in the series will be Thursday, Sept. 9. Both workshops run from 7:30 – 8:15 p.m. The cost is $20 per workshop.
Dance Station instructor Mary Miller will teach both workshops. The first is geared toward total beginners, or anyone who needs a quick reminder of salsa timing and basic steps. The second workshop will also be a beginner-level class, but dancers will be expected to understand salsa timing and the salsa basic.
Salsa is a popular dance in Santa Fe and Albuquerque — come to these workshops and you’ll be ready for a night on the town!
Note that we currently require all students and teachers to wear face masks while in the studio.
You can pay at the studio, or reserve your spot now and pay online by clicking on the button below.
Mary is also continuing her drop-in Intro to Social Dance class in September. That class is every Thursday from 6:45 – 7:30 p.m. — just before the salsa workshops. Come for the Intro class, and stay for the salsa workshop!
Like the salsa workshops, Intro to Social Dance is geared toward beginners with little or no experience. Each class will introduce the basic skills of partnering (leading or following), timing, and basic movement. We will focus on a different popular dance every week, including salsa, Country-Western, swing, and tango.
The class focuses on repetitive practice, making it ideal for those just getting started in the world of dance. This is a drop-in class, so you don’t need to commit to a series of classes — simply show up at class time. You can sign up and pay online by clicking the button below, or pay when you come to class. Cost is $15 per person per class.
