January at Dance Station

Celebrate Elvis’ birthday at Thursday’s dance!

We’d like to propose one more resolution for your New Year: Dance more!

A great place to start is our Thursday variety dance, 7:30 p.m. Jan. 8. It’s Elvis’ birthday, so you know Lawrence will be All Shook Up if you don’t make it.

If you are new to dancing, come early for our Intro to Dance lesson at 6:45 p.m., just before the dance. Dance Station instructor Mary Miller teaches a different style every Thursday evening. Tomorrow’s class is tango.

The Intro class is $15 a person and includes admission to the dance. Admission to the dance only is $10. See you on the dance floor!

Let’s learn to line dance, y’all!

Dance Station is launching a new group class this month covering popular line dances, taught by Mary Miller. The first class is 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22.

Dance Station is where Santa Fe’s dance and fitness community comes together

Dance Station is where Santa Fe learns to dance. But along with our regular dance classes and private lessons, our studio hosts a number of events put on by our friends in the dance and fitness community.

You can see all of the classes and events we host at our online calendar at www.dancestationusa.com/calendar. Here are some of the January highlights:

Argentine tango. From private lessons to milongas, Dance Station supports Santa Fe’s Argentine Tango community. Our studio is home to regular milongas put on by Santa Fe Tango.

Swing classes. Elli Hindmarch and Mike Garcia teach an always-popular series of swing classes on Sunday afternoons.

Social dance classes. Dave Duncklee teaches beginning salsa, swing and Country-Western group classes on Wednesday evenings. See the calendar for times and prices.

Jazzercise. The studio hosts 14(!) Jazzercise classes every week — every day but Sunday! Get a full-body cardio and strength workout to great pop music. Visit the Santa Fe Jazzercise site to learn more.

Just Dance. Christina Kortz leads an intensive non-stop dance class that incorporates a variety of styles with compelling choreography. Visit her Just Dance! website for more information. Just Dance! classes are three times a week.

Kung Fu. New this month is a twice-weekly Kung Fu class taught by Greg Peterson. Greg will be teaching on Tuesday evening and Saturday afternoon.

Santa Fe Community College. Beginning Friday, Jan. 23, Dance Station will host a series of dance classes by the Santa Fe Community College Continuing Education program. Instructor Cheryl Noonan will lead classes in Ballroom, Country Two-Step, West Coast Swing, and Latin dances. Visit the SFCC website for more information.
