Celebrate Elvis’ birthday at Thursday’s dance! We’d like to propose one more resolution for your New Year: Dance more! A great place to start is our Thursday variety dance, 7:30 p.m. Jan. 8. It’s Elvis’ birthday, so you know Lawrence will be All Shook Up if you don’t make it. If you are new to dancing, come early for our Intro to Dance lesson at 6:45 p.m., just before the dance. Intro to Social Dance, Country Two Step, with Mary
Just getting started in dancing? Our Intro to Social Dance class is tailored for beginning dancers with little or no experience. Each class will introduce the basic skills of partnering (leading or following), timing, and basic movement. We will focus on a different popular dance every week, including salsa, Country-Western, swing, and tango.

This class is excellent for repetition practice for newer dancers and a wonderful way to get started in the world of dance. This is a drop-in class, so there is no long-term commitment. Just come when you can. You can sign up and pay online here, or pay when you come to class. Cost is $20per person per class.

7:30 pm – 9:30 pm
Dance Rounds

This is a great opportunity for Amateur and Pro/Am dancers to practice what they have been working on with their instructors. Rhythm, Smooth and Standard styles will be danced. Please talk to your instructor to sign up.

Cost: Amateur Couples $20

Pro/Am Couples $40 for first style, additional styles $10 each

Spectators are welcome to attend these informal events for free and can come and go as they please. Ballroom dancers always enjoy performing before an appreciative audience!

Kids can communicate through dance, and partner/social dance is the ultimate art of communication. We want to help kids develop the skills, and provide opportunities for them, to communicate with their peers, and community. Skills developed on the dance floor will translate to their everyday lives presently and into adulthood.

Learn the basic 6-count steps for slower and faster swing music, along with lead and follow techniques to enhance your enjoyment of partner dancing.
