2010 is here with all the excitement and promise of new beginnings. We are busy planning a year filled with dance activities, from our stage showcase in February, to the many parties and even a competition trip in June. This year promises to be one of the best ever for the Dance Station family.
With the look forward to the fun and excitement of the new year, it is also a great time to reflect at the great progress, gifts and blessings we received in 2009.
Last year was a tremendous year for many of us, the community at large was struggling with challenges of our new economy and Dance Station was under new ownership and looking for a fresh start. And a fresh start indeed, with the loyalty and commitment of our extraordinary student body and the energy of our fantastic staff, we have made great strides toward success in our dancing and the business.
There are of course many people who really made a difference in the last year, but a couple stand outs are my dear friend Heather Van Luchene of HVL Interiors and our very own Doug McClellan.
In our efforts to create a new space and energy for the Dance Station Heather stepped up to the plate offering her fantastic services free of charge. She helped us with a plan for our space, chose colors for our challenging space, and faced the challenges of our very limited budget. She did a fantastic job and her efforts will continue to be evident as we gradually implement more of her ideas and creativity. Visit her website at HVL Interiors.com to see some of her magnificent work and many thanks to you Heather for such tremendous generosity.
As for Doug, you may not know this, but you would not be reading this if it were not for his extraordinary efforts to get this blog off the ground. He is responsible not only for the design and function of our blog and e-mail newsletter, but perhaps the greater accomplishment, he has managed to teach us much about this newfangled computer, internet voodoo. Doug got a group of dancers that regularly checked their email, (once a month) to create regular posts and emails for your information on quite a regular basis. I recall in our first meeting about starting a blog, I thought he was out of his mind that we would have to do something on the computer nearly everyday, and here we are. We have had only raving reviews of our site and it is all thanks to Doug!
We hope that you will join us in this new year in celebrating the future, a more promising economy, a long list of fun dance activities and events and most importantly, the rich and wonderful community that is Dance Station, our students and staff and all our friends, to you all, my heartfelt gratitude.
