The holidays are upon us and along with our busy schedules our holiday travels often disrupt our dance training and fun. We should take advantage of this time as an opportunity to explore new dance options.
When traveling be sure to do some dance research before you go. We usually look online for great places to eat and explore at our destination, be sure add dancing to your list. For example, you might search for Salsa and your destination city. Dance studios can also be a great resource, you might call a studio in a city you are visiting and ask if they have a practice party or a social that is open to the public. You might even want to take a lesson or group class to get some dancing in on your trip.
There are also often directories online that will give you a schedule of social dance events in every style for your destination city, much like the “Gotta Dance” listing on the Dance Station Blog. Even if the information is incomplete or not current it often will give you a contact phone number where you might get up to date dance information.
If you find yourself in Santa Fe for the holidays your special dance treat may be a lesson with a teacher you don’t usually work with or a lesson that focuses on a style or dance you are not familiar with. In any case remember, variety is the spice of life–try a new dance or style or new venue in your travels and enjoy the holidays.![]()
