Go Swingin’ with Hugh Grant and Sarah Jessica Parker

Attention country swing dancers: Hollywood wants you!

A movie to be filmed in the Santa Fe area is conducting tryouts Sunday for dancers to appear in a country swing dance scene portraying “small town, Wyoming dancers.” The audition will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at The Lodge at Santa Fe, 750 North St. Francis Drive. Casting call officials request that interested dancers “come ready to dance and be filmed.” Organizers will have music on hand, an area to dance in and partners for prospective dancers to audition with. If you have a recent color picture, bring it; if not, they will take photos at the tryouts.

The tryouts are for the movie, Did You Hear About the Morgans, which will begin filming May 5. The movie stars Hugh Grant and Sarah Jessica Parker as an estranged high-powered New York couple who witness a murder and are placed in a witness-protection program in a small Wyoming town. The film also stars Sam Elliott.

The tryouts are part of a broader casting call for extras with a “Western Look” who are “Cowboys-Cowgirls, rural town in Wyoming types, Rodeo Types.” Prospective extras are invited to bring their friends and family members, town folk, Western wear, and cowboy hats and boots. They’re also asking people to bring pictures of their pickup trucks and horse trailers.

Anyone chosen to appear in the movie will be paid $9.50 an hour, with overtime after eight hours. For more information, visit the FilmSavage Web site.
