Sunday’s Spring Showcase Draws Praise and a Crowd

20081025_dance-station-halloween-showcase-2008_038 The Santa Fe Spring Student Showcase at Dance Station was a big success!

With record attendance and record participation on Sunday, March 15, this showcase will long be remembered.

20081025_dance-station-halloween-showcase-2008_033 Students demonstrated their skills in Ballroom, Latin, Swing and Country-Western dances at this competition-style event.

A standing-room crowd was treated to both group exhibitions as well as choreographed routines performed by pro-am and amateur couples. Adjudicating was visiting coach Tom Hicks, a former Latin dance champion and owner of a studio in Los Angeles. Tom said he was pleased with the overall event and performance of the Dance Station students.

All students were critiqued by Tom. While they did not compete against one another, the showcase provided inspiration for many students to really improve their dance skills.

20081025_dance-station-halloween-showcase-2008_034 Two standouts were the routines of Katherine Nydes and Eileen Tenn, to which Tom Hicks gave top scores. Congratulations to all of our participants. Now it’s time to start preparing for the next Showcase, August 2….

I loved being there for showcase and getting the opportunity to see everyone dance. The studio was a huge part of my life for a long time, and I have really missed it (and you all!). I was thrilled to be there once again, sharing that day with everyone. Thank you for including me! I look forward to next time. Happy dancing!
