Dance Station Students Compete in Phoenix

20081025_dance-station-halloween-showcase-2008_012 Dance Station was well represented at Saturday’s 2009 Phoenix DanceSport Challenge, hosted by the Phoenix USA Dance chapter.

Dave Sitrin and Cherie Hughes and Eileen Tenn and Doug McClellan (pictured, left to right) were two of the 65 couples competing for ribbons at the one-day comp. This was Dave and Cherie’s first competition, but they were already making plans to compete again.

“We’re hooked!” Cherie enthused after she and Dave danced their first rounds.

Both couples competed in the bronze International Standard and Latin and American Smooth and Rhythm divisions, while Doug and Eileen also tackled silver American Smooth and Rhythm.

Doug and Eileen medaled in all of their events, including first place ribbons for bronze International Latin and American Smooth. They were especially proud of landing second place in the silver American Rhythm division.

Adding a boost of energy to the well-organized event were several couples from the University of Arizona and Arizona State University ballroom dance teams. Chief adjudicator was Jenell Maranto, who owns a dance studio in Phoenix and is known for her American Smooth instructional videos for Dvida.
